What is the Water Lantern Launch?

LPPOA will host its second annual Water Lantern Launch on 9/14/24. This fun family event brings together family, friends, and neighbors to launch water lanterns into our beautiful lake. Each lantern can be decorated with drawings and/or written with words of remembrance, hope, love, happiness, LPPOA pride etc. Lanterns must be purchased in advance - $5.00 per lantern. 

What time do the lanterns launch? The event starts at 6:45 PM. Starting then registrants can pick up their lantern and spend a few minutes decorating them at our event tables. Launch will start at 7:15 PM. 

Where do the lanterns launch? You can choose a launch location during registration. Lanterns will launch from Hoffman Beach or the Boathouse.

Are the lanterns cleaned up after the event? Yes, thank you to the Kayak club and other volunteers who will collect the lanterns the following morning. 

What if there is bad weather? We hope for good weather but if not an email will be sent at 4:30 PM to those who registered alerting them if the event is postponed. We have set 09/15 as a Rain Date if/as needed. The notification will also be posted on the LPPOA Facebook group.
